Random Reviews: The Story Resort & Spa

My family decided to spend the long weekend (Holy Week 2023) in Bohol. Initially, my mom wanted to book a room at Hennan Hotel but unfortunately, they were already full. So, we were forced to look for other options. We then came across The Story Resort’s Facebook page and booked two family rooms there.

Now, this was my first ever visit to Bohol so, I did not really know what to expect. I’m not even familiar with the resorts in the island, so I have no expectations whatsoever. 🙂 But overall, I did like our stay at The Story Resort. Of course, there are a few cons that I also listed below.

Pros

Aesthetic

The hotel is not a high-rise type, the design is more of a Greek or Mediterranean-inspired kind of architecture. It’s actually quite unique and it has a small but beautiful garden.

Clean And Attentive Staff

Whenever we go out to see the sights of Bohol, we forget to ask the staff to clean our room but they did it anyway. Every time we come back to our room, everything is clean and our sheets and towels were already replaced with new ones.

Accessible Pool

If you book a room on the ground floor, it will have a direct access to the pool. Their pool is also very clean and well-maintained, and it’s only 4ft so it’s safe for older kids (8 years old and above).

Cons

Not A Beachside Resort

If you want to book a hotel near the beach, then The Story Resort is not an option. The hotel is not a beachside property, but it is just a 5-minute drive to the beach stop where you can hop on boats for Balicasag.

Lacks Food Options

While they do serve complimentary breakfast, they only have around five variations (silog meals). They do have snack options but for lunch and dinner, you need to go out and look for other options. There are several food establishments and carenderias outside the hotel though.

Noise From Nearby Airport

Since an airport is nearby, incoming/outbound planes usually get close and cause some noise. But while we were there, planes don’t really come every hour but expect to hear two to three planes within the day.

Overall, despite a few drawbacks, our stay at The Story Resort in Bohol was a pleasant and memorable experience for my family and me. The unique architecture, attentive staff, and accessible pool added value to our visit, while the minor inconveniences such as the lack of extensive food options and occasional noise from the nearby airport did not significantly detract from our overall enjoyment. This trip has sparked a newfound appreciation for the charm of Bohol, and we look forward to exploring more of its wonders in the future.
