Cebu Crafts: Snowy Flowers, Anyone?

Last year, my parents celebrated their Silver (25th) Wedding anniversary by renewing their vows. My mom then asked me for any ideas as to what the giveaways should be.

We both agreed it should not be the usual figurine, and I first thought of going to Pinterest to scour for DIY ideas, but I realized I don’t really have the time to handcraft at least 100 giveaways.

Fortunately, I came across a Facebook page called “Cream of the Craft” and they specialize in personalized giveaways and gifts that feature what they call “Snowy Flowers.”

At first I thought they were just plastic decorative flowers, but when I read their website, it says that they are kind of “alive” in the sense that the flowers close their petals once they are sprayed with water. They bloom or open up again once they are dry.

So I thought this is a pretty unique one, so we bought them in vials as a ready-made giveaway. I also bought several flower stalks so I can also create personalized decorations to be displayed during the celebration. And if you are looking for a wedding giveaway, a unique gift for a special someone, or just interested to create a DIY home decor, you will find Cream of the Craft’s items really interesting.

How much does it cost?

The vials we chose were at Php 55 each for a minimum order of 100pcs (inclusive of a personalized tag and a satchel bag). They also have size variations, so the bigger vial costs more.

You can also opt to buy the snowy flowers themselves if you have a DIY project in mind. It costs Php 8 per piece (but minimum of 100 pcs).

They also offer other types of giveaways and gifts that are perfect for other occasions such as Valentines and Mother’s Day. You can browse for their items on their official Cream of the Craft website.

Where can you find them?

As far as I know, Cream of the Craft does not have a physical store yet, though the owner said that they sometimes join exhibits in Parkmall during Mother’s Day and Valentine’s season.

Aside from that, most of their transactions are done online and meet-ups are usually arranged for Cebu-based buyers. For those outside Cebu, they can ship the items for you (with an additional fee).

The owner is really friendly though, so it’s easy to settle a specific time and date for the meet-up or arrange shipping terms.

My Short DIY Project with Cream of the Craft’s Snowy Flowers and Gerber Bottles

If you are a mom, chances are, you have a lot of Gerber bottles lying around the house. You can actually do a lot with these by recreating them as containers for kitchen stuff such as salt, sugar and Magic Sarap (I know because I do these, lol).

Anyway, aside from that, you can make mini flower beds from them like what I did!  So I also bought several Snowy Flower pieces to create this. The owner was also kind enough to give me a green foam bed where I can make the flowers stand up, and some decorative moss to go along with (gee, thanks! :D).

So what I essentially did was to just cut up some of the foam bed to small pieces and placed at least 5 flowers in each (I cut the stalks in different heights to make it appear a little natural). I then placed them in a Gerber bottle and filled the bottom with some moss. Voila!

You can also place a ribbon or cord around the Gerber bottle as an added touch, but generally, it’s all up to you. You can personalize it as much as you want. 🙂
